The Travellers' Building

120

March 8th 2017 marks the day we lost another historic building in the core of downtown Regina. Mind you, this particular building was a little rough on the edges; caught somewhere between transitional areas and nestled beside the transforming Regina Downtown district, the Travellers' Building was going through a period of neglect, and it showed.

An unexpected fire in the early hours of the morning and 24 hours later, the Travellers' Building is no more. Although the cause of the fire is unknown, the Regina Fire Department promptly demolished the once bountiful brick beauty and the glimmer of potential it carried in its walls.

I have hopes that the city will replace the space with something other than beige commercial/office space but that might just be wishful thinking. In the meantime, I'll share a few photos and read a few tweets from The Travellers' Building.
